One marketer on the importance of having strong female role models
With stints at LVMH, Estée Lauder and Makeup by Mario under her belt, Estrid’s first chief brand officer Nico Morga Alden’s “risk prone” approach to her career has served her well.
Some marketers have a bullet point plan of action to get a top marketing job. Nico Morga Alden, who has just taken on the chief brand officer role at razor startup Estrid, however, did not. “I didn’t really know what I do for a job now was even a job,” she says, reflecting on her early career.
Growing up in a beach town just outside of New York City, Morga Alden wasn’t used to seeing business role models, particularly female ones. “My parents are public servants. A lot of the people around me were either in public services, or the women didn’t work,” she says. “I didn’t really have a female role model, in that sense.”
