Pfizer’s first CMO on building a company where ‘brands matter’
After becoming a household name during the pandemic, Pfizer is now in the process of transforming its marketing under the leadership of its first CMO Drew Panayiotou, who admits the business had been missing a trick by not connecting its products to its brand.
Pfizer has long been one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world, but despite being more than 170-years-old, it was not particularly well-known outside of the industry.
However, the pandemic changed all that, with Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine catapulting it to “a household name” and necessitating a transformation of its marketing function to reflect this.
