How building global teams unlocks brands’ full growth potential
Heidi Arkinstall, CMO of global hiring platform G-P, talks about the opportunities that lie in hiring beyond borders.
It feels like we are in truly borderless times. The move towards hybrid working hasn’t just fostered the realisation that employees can produce first-class work when they’re not in the office. It has also led companies to discover that they don’t even have to be in the same country.
In this video interview, we talk to Heidi Arkinstall, CMO of global hiring platform G-P, about how companies can make the most of a truly global human resource.
“Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we saw people able to communicate, collaborate and work as teams, being highly productive in a remote environment. That has given people a different perspective and it’s proof positive that remote workforces work,” she says.
The simple fact is that many businesses today face staff shortages, and by only hiring locally they’re limiting their talent pool unnecessarily. By hiring globally, Arkinstall says, “we open up opportunities for businesses to grow, but we also unlock opportunities for talent that they would never have had access to before”.
Arkinstall also speaks to the benefits of having a “collective intelligence of inclusive workforces”, bringing different perspectives that are missing from purely local teams.
While companies may worry about the logistics of global hiring – employment legislation and tax issues, for example – expert partners in this area can smooth the path for prospective employers. However, companies will benefit most if they also take a global approach to company culture, bringing remote international workforces into the fold, just the same as workers in core markets.
“You need to make sure they feel like they’re taking a good step in joining your company,” she urges.
