‘It’s not that different’: One marketer on being unafraid to switch categories
Hiscox marketing director Fiona Mayo believes more marketers should challenge themselves to try different categories when charting their career as the skills you’ve learned will apply across the board.
We’ve all got to get a proper job eventually. You can only outrun it for so long – although maybe some of you still are – before it’s time to accept reality and join the workforce.
That realisation for Fiona Mayo, now the marketing director at specialist insurance firm Hiscox, came when she was working for a windsurfing holiday company, a job she did for two years and which she fondly recalls as the “best job of my life”. Chatting to a friend of hers, however, they both agreed it was time to look for a “proper job”.
