The best marketing leaders value both introverted and extroverted team members, question everything, and listen to those with better expertise, says Britvic’s commercial growth and marketing director.
Top marketers often exude bundles of confidence, communication skills and an apparent love of being around people. All qualities many people would associate with extroverts.
However, Britvic’s Bruce Dallas, who currently holds a dual role as commercial growth director and marketing director, says businesses need to move beyond “black and white” ideas of what introverts and extroverts are and what they can contribute. There should be recognition that introverted working styles are just as important as extroverted, he says.
